This time, we are bringing to you story of CHANGE told by group of eight grade journalists, as well as their inspirative short video:

This year, a group of eighth grade journalists from Kašina and teacher Dijana Požgaj decided to get involved in a new interesting project. When the teacher introduced us to this project, I think we all wanted to start learning and making interesting papers right away. The CHANGE project, which we are currently working on, aims to encourage students to think critically about the topic of refugees and migration, teaches them how to distinguish facts from opinions and how to become able to recognize prejudices and stereotypes. So we came to a new class of our favorite extracurricular activities and the teacher told us today we could make a video in the style of Draw my life on the topic of Hiba’s life. Namely, Hiba is a girl who escaped from her hometown in Syria in search of a better life, and we met her through a movie we watched while working on the first phase of the project. The teacher played us a video about Defective Life and then we threw ourselves into work. First, our journalist Natalia showed us the application on which she worked on her „Draw my life“ for a monthly project in Croatian. The teacher then arranged who is going to do which activity. Elena drew a portrait of Hiba, Lana and Emma P. wrote the song, I was in charge of writing this very article, and the other girls wrote and translated the text, found the pictures and edited the video. After everyone had done their part of the job we were left to record the voice over video. Some had trouble pronouncing English words, but in the end we finished it all and celebrated it by taking two or three group photos. This project has just begun, and we have already learned a lot. You can watch the video created during the 3 lessons below, Elena’s drawing is at the top of the article, and we will bring other works soon.

Inspirativna Hibina priča: radimo kratki video i crtamo!
