Being a father …

V. is “a family man”, as he likes to call himself when he meets the students at the beginning of each encounter. He arrived in Italy many years ago after fleeing Cameroun from violence and torture. Being an activist back then, it’s important for him to tell his story and shed light to the situation many people live in his country. In order to do it during this emergency situation, he has had to overcome new difficulties.

This week he has had encounters with three different schools, each of them using a different online platform. This may not seem too complicated but it is not as easy as it seems, especially, with three children that also need to participate in online lessons. Having a computer available or having an empty room in order to do the encounter are things he always has to take into account, organizing the family’s schedule. This is why there are times he speaks to students from his living room in front of his computer and other times he does it standing out of the balcony in front of his phone.

We cannot give anything for granted, and we thank V., as well as the other refugees that do everything possible in order to continue working on the project CHANGE.
